Thrilled to flip the calendar today!
Listening..... an old episode of Star Trek: Next Generation streaming through Netflix. I used to love this show as a kid.  (I even have a signed photo of Wil Wheaton that my mother got me from a Star Trek convention. Shhhhh......)  However, it's rather more dated than I thought it would be.

.....that I only have 15 days of school left!  Including three half days, a curriculum development day, and various end-of-the-year concerts, plays, track & field events, memory book presentaions....  The weeks are almost planned out for me.  Yay!!

.....of changing my classroom decor from black with animal print trim to more soothing tones. I'm thinking blues, greens, and purples with a foresty feel.  (Any ideas??? I'd love some input or suggestions!)

.....that big bowl of chocolate ice cream.  I have a major sweet tooth, but .....

Needing..... make healthier eating choices. I've been reading some books about nutrition and have finally come to understand the negative impacts of sugar. It's in everything now - almost unavoidable.  But - I am trying. I finally kicked my sweetened yogurt habit and switched to plain fat-free with frozen blueberries stirred in. Now to kick the ice cream habit!

3 Vacation Essentials.....
.....we don't really go on many big vacations since our daughters are still small, but we do have a fun trip lined up later in September to travel to Minnesota for my cousin's wedding. And we take mini-trips over the summer. For me, the top three essential items are:
     1. Freedom to explore - I don't liked being hemmed in by tours or guides unless they're brief. Give me a map and a full day and I'm happy. And NO CHAIN RESTAURANTS while on vacation!  I want to try something I can't get at home.
     2. Comfy Shoes - I vividly remember trekking through Toronto with these adorable strappy sandals that I just bought.  However, the hobbling on blistered feet was not so adorable.  Mom was right - sensible shoes it is!
     3. My iPhone - Everything you need in one spot - MapQuest, E-mail, FaceTime, and Apps targeted to wherever you are. I've only had my smart phone for two years and now I wonder how I accomplished things without it.

How is your June so far??  Swing by Farley's to link up!

  1. You're not the only one who's a secret sci-fi/trek fan ;) It's amazing how much things have changed in TV in the past 20-25 years!

  2. Hi Corrina,
I'm changing up my theme...I've been Mrs. Moore's busy bees for years and I'm switching to a rockstar there. Kinda excited for that next year. Enjoy your summer.

  3. Good for you for wanting to kick the sugar beast! It really IS in everything! I recently gave up artificial sweeteners and switched to Stevia which is at least natural. It has no effect on the glycemic index, so it helps the cascade of sugar cravings. I wanted ice-cream last night too, but I know what it will do to me. I had a frozen pineapple and banana smoothy made with a little greek yogurt and a LOT of ice. Still has natural sugar in it, but it is better than full fat ice cream...or so I keep telling myself! Keep at it, it all pays off in the end!
    Happy Summer!

  4. Oh i like the no chain restraunts! I think I msy need to implement that one. I slso need to kick the sugar habit. Our entire family does. Thst is one of my ummer goals.

    Learning Ahoy!

  5. I'm going to let you kick the sugar habit because I'll never be able to!! Butter crunch ice cream is my favorite OR peanut butter yogurt with Heath bar!! Yum! :)

I just got my iPhone 4 days ago and LOVE it!!!!!!

I also like to eat off the beaten path whenever I travel.

Can't wait to see what you decide about your room.

  6. Hi Corrina:
Oh.... ice cream! After coffee, it's my fav! (And coffee ice cream is one of my summer loves!)
I can't wait to see your new color scheme--and I love the idea of a little purple with blues and greens. I think you've got a good plan!

So glad we were neighbors on Farley's Currently... Looking forward to visiting again.
