What's Up Currently....August!

August.....ALREADY!?! But some good news is that it's time to link up with Farley......

Listening...
...to an old episode of Castle... I just LOVE the chemistry and hilarious banter between Beckett and Castle! Nathan Fillion is a fantastic actor. Have loved him since Firefly...
Loving...
...my new Blog Planner!  I did a TON of research, gathered some ideas and then created my own when I couldn't find quite what I was looking for.  I'll share it with you in few days, but here is a sneak peak...
Thinking...
...about how I'm going to run our new Lucy Calkins writing workshop program. I am furiously reading all the unit plans and "bends" but the simple decision of what kind of notebook to have my students use is twisting my brain in knots. Composition? Spiral? 3-Subject Spiral? ARGH!...
Wanting...
...more time to accomplish my summer "to-do" list. I don't go back for another 4 weeks, but already my pulse starts to ratchet up when I think of all the things I want to get done. So I got this tattoo...
...NOT!!!
(But as a major list-maker, I understand the sentiment - LOL!)

Needing...
...to finish cleaning out and vacuuming our car. Weeks into a fun-filled summer vacation and the sand, potting soil, and sticky handles are getting to me. I STARTED to clean the car yesterday with my 6 and 4 year old "helping" me, but then they ditched me to help daddy lay paving stones and my oldest got attacked by a carpenter bee.  My poor little sweetie got stung three times - it got caught in her hair at the nape of her neck.  :-(   Soooo.....car cleaning will have to wait.

B2S Must Haves...
New CRAYOLA colored pencils.  We illustrate vocabulary words a lot and do other drawings so these are a must-have. And although each student should have their own, they tend to disappear.  And they HAVE to be Crayola. No Rose-Art or dollar store brands.  ICK.
Funky New Pens I really am a pen junky. Lately it's been fountain pens.
My favorite aisle at Staples:
I could easily drop $100 here.  But just in case my husband reads this....I did NOT.  :-)

Great songs on my iPod. Once I get back into commuting 25 minutes each way, I really love some great mood boosting songs in the mornings. Here's my current favorite for singing in the car:
On Top of the World - Imagine Dragons

How is your August...currently?  Link on up at Farley's!

  1. Poor little girl to get stung by a bee :( That is never fun. Good luck planning your writer's workshop.

  2. Your life sounds so busy! I feel like this year I need a new electric pencil sharpener...my kids somehow kill mine! I had 2 last year in my room but they were worn out by spring.
    Also: Crayola all the way!

  3. I could live in that pen aisle right there. I guess it's a good thing we don't have a Staples in a 100 mile radius.

  5. This is our second year using LC (I half way implemented it last year). Honestly, I made spirals for them to write in...but they never got used. I always made templates for them to follow. Good luck!
